In the early 90s, the Air Travel and Tourism sector was just immerging in Sierra Leone, after the establishment of the National Tourist Board in 1990, the sector was, however, challenged with capacity for its employees. There were no centres/institutions in the Country to trained people to serve in the middle level of administration in the travel and tourism sector. Against this backdrop, emerged the College of Travel and Tourism Studies on the 10th October 1999 to primarily trained people to fill in the said administrative gap.
There is a reciprocal relationship between transport, tourism and socio-economic development on one hand and the need for professional competence in the management of transport, tourism and other socio-economic activities on the other.
With this view, the College of Travel and Tourism Studies (C.T.T.S.) also seeks to create an awareness and appreciation of this reciprocal relationship and build upon the expertise and experience of the Transport and Tourism industries, so that the people of Sierra Leone and the sub-region will fully realise the benefits through training and Continuous Professional programmes.
